Project Eden is a ministry of the Richardson East Church of Christ which exists for the purpose of feeding people, building fellowship among church members and their neighbors, and to care for God’s creation.
Project Eden began in February of 2009 with 16 plots cared for by a combination of church members and neighbors from the surrounding community.
Project Eden was expanded to 32 plots in fall of 2010. Plots are contracted for on an annual basis. A small fee is collected at the time the contract is submitted to pay for water costs not covered under an agreement with the City of Richardson. Plots are usually available year round although most plots are under contract before the beginning of growing season each year.
All plot owners donate a percentage of their produce to the CARE Corps Food Pantry at Richardson East. Hundreds of pounds of vegetables are donated each year and go to families who are in need of food.
To check on the availability of plots, call the Project Eden coordinator, Jennifer Anderson at 972-495-0903. To secure your plot:
- Download, read and sign the Project Eden Community Garden Agreement.
- Submit your signed agreement and fee to the church office (1504 E. Campbell Rd, Richardson, TX 75081). Please make checks payable to the Richardson East Church of Christ.
- Once submitted, you will be contacted within 5 business days as to your plot assignment.
If you have questions, please call the church office at 972-231-8231.
Once you become a plot holder, you will receive information via e-mail about garden workdays and other special events.
